Organizing Arts & Crafts for the children at hand to hand foundation - Creativity, Activity & Service

On December the 6th, all the IBs in my school went to the hand to hand foundation in Pattaya, some helped build a garden for the charity, others like me, created activities for the children. Me, Panittha, Mara, Tara and Leanna were organizing the arts & craft activities which included making a hand print onto paper which ends up forming a reindeer hat, a snowman using cotton balls and glue, make necklaces out of fruit loops and lastly, we cut paper plates up into 3s and formed a Christmas tree which the children could decorate.

(LO1) Working together, each one of us was in charge of bringing materials for the activity they're in charge of, for me I brought the paper plates and normal colored paper. (LO2) We planned the activities 2 weeks before going there, we made a group chat on facebook to ensure that everyone could give their ideas, opinions and ask any questions if they need to. This helped us communicate more and ensured that the activities would run as smoothly as possible for the children and us. (LO3) Although some children didn't want to part-take in our activities, I had to improvise and create new activities for them on the spot because I was committed in making sure that the children had as much fun as they could while we were there, so I ended up drawing animals for the children to color in. (LO4) My strengths are organizing activities and planning all the items needed but my weakness was being able to communicate with young children who I do not have much experience with and have to keep in mind that they are children in a charity foundation that deserve to have joy and that being part of that movement is really important.

Spending a day there has shown me that you do not need a lot in life to be happy but if you try to be happy, that is enough. Those kids taught me that the simplest things in life can bring you happiness and seeing them smile made me smile as well.

LAMDA Gold Medal Exam - Creativity

I have done a few Lamda exams over the years and took drama as an Igcse subject so this year I decided to do the last level exam which was Grade 8 the gold medal. (LO1)  I'm able to memorize monologues very quickly so it eliminates one of the many hard obstacles of the exam. However, what I need to develop is the range of emotions for each character as there are 3 exams so that I do not end up having the same emotion in each monologue. (LO2) Another challenge was the knowledge section of the exam where we had to choose a practitioner to learn about and be tested on. I chose Constantin Stanislavski as I remembered his acting techniques from researching about him during my Igcses. The lamda examiner questioned me about how Stanislavski turned realism to naturalism withn acting and what were his teachings. (LO3) The perseverance part was the hardest as I would struggle to split my time between homework, school work and revision that I usually do during my free periods that would be re...
