Baseball – Activity

Baseball turned out to be quite a fun experience although I did wish we played on a field rather than with the mechanic machine but I did get to try pitching the ball as well.
(LO1 – undertaken new challenges) The first challenge was choosing which speed was right for me as there were different sections where the balls would be hit at different mph, some of the speeds on the machine were so high, they were throwing at the same rate as a professional baseball pitcher was, and that’s crazy! The second challenge was to know how to stand correctly so that I can properly hit the ball, the biggest challenge though was actually hitting the ball, it was much harder than I thought it would be in all honesty. I did do a lot better than my sister though, on the bright side, after a very tiring few hours, I now know how to hit and pitch a baseball.

(LO2 – commitment and perseverance) At first I thought it was going to be easy but it was nothing like I expected. I continued to play round after round until at one point I was on my 8th game at hitting 25 balls. I wanted to prove to myself that I am capable of playing baseball so I kept trying until I could hit a ball, I wasn’t going to give up until I reached my goal. After finding the perfect height on the pitching machine, I was able to hit a few balls which made me happy. After being able to hit some of them, I moved to a higher speed machine in order to test my new skills I just gained and to my surprise I actually did well and put a good effort into the last game.
(LO3 – worked collaboratively) My sister’s friends were the ones teaching me which position I should stand in, how to hold the bat, hit the ball and throw the ball. One of them would be standing by the pitching machine, constantly adjusting the height that the ball will be pitched. By doing this it was very helpful as it allowed me to be able to predict where the ball is going to go and not make me have to jump or squat to hit the ball. With their help I was able to hit many balls successfully. They would also pitch balls to me to help me practice hitting the balls at a particular normal speed.
(LO4 – developed new skills) At least now I am able to say that I am capable of playing baseball or at least be able to hit and pitch the ball which will come into use when me and my family look for activities together.

Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

LAMDA Gold Medal Exam - Creativity

I have done a few Lamda exams over the years and took drama as an Igcse subject so this year I decided to do the last level exam which was Grade 8 the gold medal. (LO1)  I'm able to memorize monologues very quickly so it eliminates one of the many hard obstacles of the exam. However, what I need to develop is the range of emotions for each character as there are 3 exams so that I do not end up having the same emotion in each monologue. (LO2) Another challenge was the knowledge section of the exam where we had to choose a practitioner to learn about and be tested on. I chose Constantin Stanislavski as I remembered his acting techniques from researching about him during my Igcses. The lamda examiner questioned me about how Stanislavski turned realism to naturalism withn acting and what were his teachings. (LO3) The perseverance part was the hardest as I would struggle to split my time between homework, school work and revision that I usually do during my free periods that would be re...
