Organizing valentine's day - Service

Organizing Valentine's day was the most stressful and hardest thing I have ever had to do in school so far but after it ended, it turned to become the most amazing and eye-opening experience/event of my life so far. (LO1) First, I wanted to organize it because I knew that I was good at organizing finance and persuading people to follow my cause. I wanted to develop that strength of mine by organizing this event. (LO2) The event turned out to be bigger than the recent previous years, causing many problems as it was hard to manage hundreds of flowers and chocolates. The main challenge was to manage to collect each individuals order and to calculate how much each person owed as people would continuously keep ordering at different times. (LO3) I contacted the flower shop to discuss prices with them and went to Makro (a department store) to check the prices for each 24 and 48 boxes of kit kat. I started out with creating the spreadsheet and google form so people could order the roses and I could see/keep track of their orders. I emailed all students informing them that they can now order roses and chocolates for valentine's day. I planned for 3 different colored roses (white, pink, red) as we've never had more than 2 colors before so I wanted to change that. (LO4) It took a lot of commitment in terms of dedicating each night to calculating the spreadsheet, having to go to the flower shop after school, every morning and lunch registration having to go collect money from students, staying after school to write each individual cards and lastly, having to encourage myself to have the motivation to keep doing this project as at times I just didn't want to do it anymore. (LO5) My friends were really helpful towards the end of the project, at the beginning I had done it all on my own with no help but during the days leading up to Valentine's day, my friends helped me write hundreds of cards, especially Erica and to collect money from people. On the actual day of distributing the roses and chocolates, Anjali and Panittha were delivering them to each student, Nokweed and Yim were removing the thorns, Erica was writing the cards, Mara, Aniela and Marina helped organize the orders and Nokweed also drove me to the flower place each time I had to go there, at 5AM on Valentine's day we went to pick up the roses and came directly to school. At 6:30 most of my friends were already at school to help me with all the tasks, their support made me realize that I could actually successfully pull off this event. (LO6) I placed a 10,000 baht deposit on the roses the week before valentine's day in order to secure a price for the batches of roses as the nearer to Valentine's day it is, the more expensive the roses are. The roses ended up being bought at 30 baht each and we charged the red roses for 30 baht while the pink and whites at 35 baht, due to the change of price we had no money for the charities that our school support. We had a few hundred bahts left but since some roses broke on the day we had to buy new roses and more chocolates for students which in turn, left us with no money at all. It was unethical of me to promise students that all their orders would be out on Valentine's day itself when in actuality, we delivered some orders the day after Valentines day and even on Friday which was 2 days later. Overall, this was an incredible experience that has made me consider studying in hotel management or management in general for university.

LAMDA Gold Medal Exam - Creativity

I have done a few Lamda exams over the years and took drama as an Igcse subject so this year I decided to do the last level exam which was Grade 8 the gold medal. (LO1)  I'm able to memorize monologues very quickly so it eliminates one of the many hard obstacles of the exam. However, what I need to develop is the range of emotions for each character as there are 3 exams so that I do not end up having the same emotion in each monologue. (LO2) Another challenge was the knowledge section of the exam where we had to choose a practitioner to learn about and be tested on. I chose Constantin Stanislavski as I remembered his acting techniques from researching about him during my Igcses. The lamda examiner questioned me about how Stanislavski turned realism to naturalism withn acting and what were his teachings. (LO3) The perseverance part was the hardest as I would struggle to split my time between homework, school work and revision that I usually do during my free periods that would be re...
